The police are iconic symbols of Korea, mostly because of their uniform which I wanted to capture. I walked into Itaewon Police Station with my portfolio and explained my intentions. The two young cops that greeted me asked their superiors for approval. They came back and said I could photograph two officers.

  • We went outside to pose in front of the squad car. Another officer hopped in, then another, then another. This was just a group of young guys having a good time. Since then, I periodically stop in the police station and say hello. A great group of guys. When I came back to get the photograph of the squad with the prints, the captain stayed out of the picture, the boss, the only woman in the station.
